Hillbrow is famous for being dangerous and poverty stricken. Most people steer clear of the area but not EDS Projects who set up a food truck for the hungry.

Hillbrow is one of the most densely populated area’s in Johannesburg, this coupled with rising crime and poverty rates meant it has become one of the top danger hot spots in the city.

Because of it’s reputation many people keep clear of the area. The city is slowly being rejuvenated and restored but it is still not a place many will venture.

Recently EDS projects decided to send in a food truck to feed the hungry and homeless of Hillbrow. This meant that many forgotten people got an opportunity to eat a warm meal on a cold winter day. The Disaster Relief Management team at EDS Projects setup the Power Foods mobile kitchen in the heart of Hillbrow

“Whether it is early childhood development centres, communities requiring blankets, beanies and scarves, swift intervention in a disaster relief effort, childhood protection, or providing for the elderly, we are committed to success. Making a meaningful difference in South Africa to those in need through social entrepreneurship and building capacity.” – Boikanyo Ratlhagane, EDS Projects Executive

The homeless people in Hillbrow face icy conditions without blankets or food. EDS Projects teamed up with the Gauteng City Region Anti-Substance Abuse Social Movement. They used the local radio station to raise awareness for their cause.
