An abandoned foal was taken in by foster mom Jeanne from the Harties Feral Cat Rescue, and her rescue cat Babsie made sure the foal was ok.
Hartbeespoort, South Africa (16 March 2022) – The Harties Feral Cat Rescue shared an adorable video of an abandoned foal meeting one of their rescue cats for the first time, and it is too precious. Babsie is a loving, kind and very welcoming cat that embraced the curious foal, allowing it to sniff her and try to figure out what she was.
The Harties Feral Cat Rescue is a volunteer-based, registered Public Benefit Organisation dedicated to helping Hartbeespoort’s free-roaming cat population. They care for more than 1200 cats in and around Hartbeespoort. Joanne Kontaxopoulos-Rabe founded the organisation in May 2017.
The cat rescue advocates for feral cat colonies, ensuring they are adequately cared for and have access to food and medical care. They practice TNR, which is humanely trapping, neutering and returning the cats to their colonies where they have adapted to life. This method helps manage colony numbers and prevents future kittens from being born on the streets.
According to the cat rescue website, they have trapped, neutered and returned over 4000 cats since the organisation was founded.
Often when kittens are found within the colonies, they are taken to foster homes where they can then be tamed and rehomed. One of the super foster moms is Jeanne, who is mom to Babsie. Jeanne also does phenomenal work with horses and recently took in an abandoned foal.
Babsie loves following Jeanne around the property, so when Jeanne checked on the foal, Babsie joined. The foal got its first chance to meet a cat, and the meeting is rather heartwarming! Babsie was patient and showed great care when dealing with the foal.
Jeanne shared the video with the Harties Feral Cat Rescue, and fans of the page are loving it! We must admit, we just about melted when we saw Babsie boop the foal on the nose. Take a look at the video below.
