Sais du Plooy was driving home after spending the evening with a fellow South African watching the rugby. He used the drive to sing and inspire the country.
Du Plooy was trying to make South Africa a better place after the current state of the nation. Inspired by his newfound friendship with Bheki Shongwe, an under-21 Lions rugby player, Sais took to Facebook video in a call for unity in SA.
“I started to think, South Africa has really been through a few dark weeks! With many incidents taking place and so on.”
‘But last night just told an absolutely different story. And I want to motivate everyone to just to take that small step towards making the country a better place, we have just got so much potential”
The passionate South African then went on to say the most inspiring and motivating thing of all! Calling for unity, acceptance and understanding.
“Don’t be afraid to make new friends, and accommodate people with different cultural backgrounds and racial backgrounds. You might be surprised when you take that little step”
He went on to sing a snippet of the anti-Apartheid protest song ‘Weeping’ and the National Anthem.
Shongwe and du Plooy were introduced by a mutual friend and sat next to one another during the recent Sharks Lions clash on Ellis Park.
The video went viral after GoodThingsGuy broke the story and many news sites followed suit with interviews and updates.
