Johannesburg, South Africa (02 August 2023) – I recently hit the road with Profmed on a mission to seek out the extraordinary South Africans making waves and doing jaw-droppingly incredible things.

I’m talking about those special individuals who are leaving a lasting impact and lighting up our beautiful nation!

And you know what’s truly magical? Stories. They have this incredible power to connect us all. They don’t care about age, background, or any of those things that sometimes divide us. Nope! Stories are the glue that brings generations, cultures, and societies together in the most extraordinary way.

That’s why Profmed recently launched the “We Are South African” series.

We Are South African” is all about celebrating the fact that each and every one of us is a hero. Yep, YOU are a hero! And you’re surrounded by heroes, too.

For almost 10 years, I’ve had the privilege of sharing stories and insights of some of the most inspiring innovators, change-makers, helpers, idea-shapers, professionals, and athletes that our incredible country offers on Good Things Guy. And let me tell you, it’s been an absolute honour and a journey filled with wonder!

But you know what? Their stories? Well, their stories are OUR stories.

They represent the very essence of South Africa, and more importantly, they reflect the spirit and resilience of every South African.

Partnering with Profmed has given me an incredible opportunity and empowered me to share these bladdy fantastic stories with you in a different way… video interviews that are a breath of fresh air.

This is episode 2: Meet Profmed member and extraordinarily brilliant woman Sylvia Shapshak – the 14th woman architect in South Africa

“I heard my mother say, we will let her study for a year, and I’m quite sure she will fail, and then she will do something sensible like shorthand typing.” – Sylvia Shapshak

This Women’s Month we celebrate Sylvia and all the women who came before us! Thank you Sylvia!

And please remember friends, every day, in every corner of our beautiful nation, South Africans are making magic happen. Their stories are a reminder of the power within each and every one of us to make a difference. So let’s celebrate their stories, embrace our own heroism, and together, let’s keep moving South Africa forward.

Stay tuned for more incredible “We Are South African” episodes coming your way soon!
