A video on TikTok has sparked a conversation about a man named “David Mitchell” who quietly helped students all over South Africa over 2 decades ago.

Johannesburg, South Africa (24 July 2021) – A man named “Bongo Muffin” uploaded a video to TikTok, which is going viral… regaling a story about a stranger named David Mitchell who changed his life more than 20 years ago.

Bongo has spent forever trying to find the man to thank him, and since uploading the video, others are now coming forward to say that the same man – David Mitchell – helped them too. Who is David Mitchell? Well, South Africans are starting to believe that he may have been a real-life angel.

Bongo was a third-year university student when he met David Mitchell. At the time, he did not have enough money to get by and was in the “deepest pit of depression”. He had also just lost his grandmother, who was the only source of income in his family, but more importantly, was also his pillar of emotional support.

It was that day that Bongo decided to drop out of university. The student collected all of his belongings and made his way through the campus to say goodbye to his friends.

It was then that he bumped into a “middle-aged-white-man” who initiated a conversation. The man weirdly asked him about his studies and, more importantly, why he had decided to drop out.

Bongo explained that he just didn’t have the funds and would need at least R5,000 to be okay.

The man immediatly wrote a cheque for Bongo for the exact amount, climbed into his car, and drove away. The student looked down and saw David Mitchell’s name on the cheque. He was left perplexed at why a stranger would just help him, for “no reason”. It was all very sudden, and the entire engagement was a bit surreal.

Bongo has spent the last 20 years trying to track down David Mitchell but has had very little success.

His video was only uploaded 20 hours ago, but it has sparked a conversation about “David Mitchell”, who quietly also helped others over 2 decades ago.

Do angels walk among us? Well, it does seem like this kind man, who has helped so many South Africans may very well have been one.
