The NCC Hot Shots were filmed in action by Sullivan Photography to showcase their hard work and dedication to stopping wildfires in their tracks.
Justin Sullivan is the talented photographer behind all the epic images of the wildfires that affect the Western Cape. During a recent fire, Justin went and filmed the NCC Wildfires crew in action.
The NCC Environmental Services is one of a kind in South Africa and their HotShot crews are jam-packed with true heroes who brave danger whenever needed. Justin broke down in detail all the things that the crew does and how they benefit the Western Cape.
The #NCCHotShots have already been involved in the combating of numerous fires this season. Here is a very short video of some of the work they do. The team often works with Working on Fire ground crews and aerial support as well as the Enviro Wildfire Services – Western Cape, Volunteer Wildfire Services, Stem in die Bos Ontbossing & other wildland firefighting contractors.
These specialised Type 1 Interagency HotShot Crews are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for the full duration of the Western Cape fire season. These are the only Type 1 IHC’s in South Africa. The crews are contracted to Western Cape Government and CapeNature and can be called out by any of their partners. Their base is at Vergelegen Wines and they respond to fires anywhere within the Western Cape.
NCCWildfires crews are also contracted out to SANParks – Table Mountain National Park, Cape Winelands DM and numerous private landowners as Wildfire Agents.
Watch the heroes in action below.
