Another South African has taken to social media to assist a fellow community member in a time of need and managed to get the help in less than 24 hours.

Melanie Kagan took to Facebook to help Timothy, a Malawian gentleman she had become friends with at her local church.

Timothy approached Melanie at church last Sunday & told her that he had been retrenched and had not eaten for the past 3 days. Melanie immediately offered to assist him with food and asked for his CV so she could try and find him work.

“He is such a beautiful soul and in such a trying situation at the moment. He needs to pay his rent for the upcoming month so that he will have a roof over his head. We have offered him a days work at our home as he doesn’t want donations but, wants to work for money.”

He was working at the Sun and Sand Holiday Resort as a Butler and also as an assistant night auditor, he also worked at the Mount Soche Hotel as a chef, head waitron and an accountant marketing manager.

“His qualification include an accounting diploma, marketing diploma, front of office operations certificate and he has a diploma in hotel management and food and beverage catering… who wouldn’t want his experience?”

Melanie posted a status update asking if any of her friends needed house-work or odd jobs done, while they tried to find him permanent employment.

“In just 1 day, God moved mountains for our dear friend Timothy…

He started work this morning and will be hired for 3 days work at a private residence, then on Friday he has an interview at 10h00 in the hospitality industry followed by working on Friday and Saturday at the Kelvin Grove Hotel for a function they have…”

“Tim we love you. Tim we believe in you.”

“Thank you so much for the response to help this amazing man…”

We love seeing social media used for good! And this is a shining example. Well done to Melanie & good luck to Tim.
