Shelley Pembroke Hartman’s car was parked outside a pub when a few intoxicated guys crashed into it. In the chaos, the car guard managed to get their keys, preventing them from leaving.

Johannesburg, South Africa – Shelley Pembroke Hartman’s car was parked in The Irish Rock parking lot when it was in a bit of a fender-bender. According to a heroic car guard, a group of friends left the bar but were highly intoxicated.

As they attempted to reverse and leave the parking lot, they crashed into Shelley’s car. In the panic and chaos that followed, Junior a car guard on duty was able to get their car keys away from them.

“Thankfully, Junior (the best car guard in the world) had the sense to grab their keys as they were trying to drive away before calling us. He hid the keys for a full 45 mins before they even realized they’d been taken. The management assisted and called the cops.”

The cops arrived, and after chatting to Shelley about what she wanted to do, they drove the intoxicated individuals home and then went to the police station to open a case.

“When they arrived, they were amazing. Drove the idiots home safely (after asking us point-blank if we’d rather have them arrested) and then – believe this or not – went to the station, opened a case and drove BACK to Irish Rock to give us official docs with the case number etc. HUGE thank you to Irish Rock staff for being amazing and so grateful to Honeydew Police Station for their humane approach and incredible dedication to duty. Some people are drunk idiots. But some people are legends.”

Shelley thanked everyone involved in helping them. She felt like everyone was there to offer assistance and the entire situation was resolved without any major headaches.

Shelley shared a photo of Junior with us, calling him a legend!
