Jacques Pierre Le Roux was shopping and as he unloaded his trolley, he forgot to pick up his iPad… the store found it but had to get creative to find the owner!

Kuils River, Cape Town – Jacques Pierre Le Roux had spent hours at work and commuting through heavy traffic earlier in January. He stopped at his local Woolworths to pick up a few things and forgot his iPad in the trolley when he was done.

Before he even had a chance to miss it, he got a call from one of his clients saying that they had received a call from Woolworths saying something about an iPad and wanting to connect with the person it belongs to.

His client was surprised but the call but Jacques wasn’t… because he knew exactly what the call had meant.

“On the 15th of January after a long work day & hours in traffic I shopped at your Langverwacht branch in Kuils River & when leaving the store with a lot on my mind I forgot my iPad in the shopping trolley.

‪After about 30 minutes later I get a call at home from 1 of my clients in Plettenberg Bay who works at to say that she has just received the weirdest phone call. “‬

“‪Now quite surprised & curious I replied…OK, go ahead & tell me.‬

So she says ‬ someone from Woolworths has just phoned her to say that someone she knows has left their iPad in their store, but they don’t know how to get hold of this person.”

The woman who found the iPad, Lungiswa, handed it in the moment she saw it. As she handed it over, an email came through from Jacques’s client and even though it was locked, they were able to get the contact information to call and make a connection to Jacques.

“Long story short, they kept my device safely in the office & a lady named Esmarie told me that Lungiswa found the iPad & handed it in.”

Jacques was so grateful for the effort the store went through to try and find him. He shared the story as a way to say thank you to everyone involved in returning his iPad.

“THANK YOU & a huge shout out to Woolies Food Langverwacht for your effort & being honest & saving me a LOT of hassles & expenses. Thanks, Lungiswa for setting an example & proving that people are still honest.”
