Cotlands’ Integrated Annual Report has scooped up another leading annual report award. Last night, Cotlands was announced winners at the 2015 annual JSE Institute of Chartered Secretaries Awards in the CSI category.

“This is a wonderful achievement for Cotlands. We work hard to earn and maintain the trust and support of companies and the public, so to be acknowledged for our transparency and our efforts towards sustainability is a welcome recognition. We would like to thank our supporters who have invested their finances and trust in Cotlands to enable us to not only practice, but also to be able to report on, good governance in our programmes and our monitoring and evaluation processes,” said Cotlands CEO Jackie Schoeman.

This is Cotlands fourth win at the Chartered Secretaries Awards.

The CSSA awards offer an opportunity for a peer-on-peer comparison and measure of good corporate governance and risk management practices. The primary objective of the Awards is to encourage accurate and transparent financial reporting and full disclosure of all relevant information to stakeholders.

Cotlands’ 2015 annual report was a milestone report in that it recorded the organisation’s transition from residential care facilities to a wider reaching and more sustainable early childhood development organisation.

“While the transition was a difficult time, it was a strategic decision taken to ensure the long-term sustainability of Cotlands. Our non-centre based programmes target the most under-resourced communities allowing us the opportunity to reach many more children in need of our services. It is our privilege to work with young children who will positively impact our society in the years to come,” added Schoeman.

Over the past year, Cotlands has established itself as thought leaders and innovators in the early childhood development sector. The organisation is addressing the social and education crisis in South Africa by establishing early learning playgroups and toy libraries for children age birth to six.
