Kindness is one of the greatest gifts you can bestow upon another. If someone is in need, lend them a helping hand. Do not wait for a thank you. True kindness lies within the act of giving without the expectation of something in return.
Ollie, an incredible South African who works at the School of Prophecy in Cape Town received an incredible act of kindness after he was robbed of all his belongings.
Howard James Fyvie took part in the act of kindness & couldn’t help sharing on Facebook to inspire us all…
This is Ollie. Yesterday he was held up at gun-point on his way home – along with his wife and their 3 year old daughter.
Unfortunately, he’d just been paid moments before he was robbed, taking his wage of R1800 plus his mobile phone.
Ollie works at the church coffee shop, and for the past week he’s been serving us here at the School of Prophesy; cooking up lunch with the team of chefs, creating amazing cappuccinos and in general just offering a friendly smile and a firm handshake.
Once we heard the news of his robbery, all of us immediately threw together whatever cash we had at the time. Some guys even left the building, drove to ATMs and found cash to contribute.
One hour later, we surprised Ollie by giving him the box of cash and total contributions. A total of more than R5600 bucks, along with a cellphone that someone gave, and someone else even gave him their wallet to put the cash into.
People often complain about all the evil in this world saying, “how can a good God do bad things to good people”. But maybe we should rather ask, “how can we be Jesus to people when bad stuff goes down”.
That’s the way Jesus showed us. That’s how the church is actually meant to work.
Thanks for the coffees, Ollie!
