The Blitzboks have won the 2021 World Series in Canada; they made their way through the series undefeated, winning all 12 of their games.
Edmonton, Canada (27 September 2021) – The Blitzboks have done it; they won the 2021 World Series in Canada over the weekend. This is the second of two HSBC Canada Sevens tournament wins and a fourth HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series win.
They played in two of Canada’s cities in a total of two tournaments. The team went on to win both as well as claiming an undefeated streak by winning all 12 of their 12 games.
Other accomplishments were reached during this series. Siviwe Soyizwapi scored six tries on Sunday and nine overall in this series. These tries helped him reach the milestone of 100 career tries in the World Series. That is an incredible feat and was celebrated during the game against Kenya, which the Blitzboks won 33-7.
The team technically won the series during their semi-final performance against Kenya when their total points could not be beaten on the log. They went into the final against Great Britain, already winners, and ending the final game with a score of 24-12.
We are so incredibly proud of the Blitzboks. We cannot wait to see what they accomplish next. Stay tuned; we will keep you updated! Take a look at the moment they got to raise the trophy below.
