Despite describing herself as an amateur, Bronwyn Meredith Dos Santos delivered quite the show as she rode her beloved mare, Bibisi, at the 2025 Longines FEI World Cup Jumping Finals held in Switzerland.

Basel, Switzerland (07 April 2025) – An amateur rider who is more hard-working than talented. That’s how South African showjumper, Bronwyn Meredith Dos Santos, describes herself. But we beg to differ. In fact, we choose to celebrate this outstanding rider for putting on a spectacular show with her horse, Bibisi, at the 2025 Longines FEI World Cup Jumping Finals held over the weekend in Basel, Switzerland.

Bronwyn was one of the 25 riders who qualified for the prestigious competition after making the cut in the 2023/24 season.

Giving the grand showjumping competition their all, Bronwyn and Bibsi impressed by having only a rail down coming out of the triple combination leading up to the finals, but redeeming themselves in the Sunday show, with Bibisi making his jumps like a pro in the second row of finals yesterday!

Admittedly, Bronwyn tells World of Showjumping that stepping onto one of the biggest stages was terrifying, having only jumped a 1.60m track and having completed just one four-star show in her entire life.

Bronwyn celebrates Bibsi

Reflecting on the incredible opportunity on her social media, what stood out the most for Bronwyn was getting to share the experience with her four-legged companion, whom she’s been riding since 2020, and their truest friendship, a bond she describes as “a love beyond all sense and measure”.

“She has taken me right from the bottom to where we are now. I struggled to learn how to ride her because she is a real quality horse. Now, I find she’s the easiest horse in the world to ride, but it was challenging in the beginning and I had to put in a lot of work in.

“I love her. Now she’s like putting on an old pair of jeans, she fits me perfectly. I’m very short and small, and she’s not very big, and she’s not very  big but she has a very big heart and she wants to fight for me.”

Bronwyn and Bibsi, you put on a great show and captured hearts! We are so proud of all you’ve achieved so far and for putting South Africa on the global showjumping stage!
