Calling all cycling enthusiasts! The oldest road classic cycle race in South Africa, the Amashova, might just take you on a life-altering path where you’ll get to lead the way of support for children fighting the Big C:
South Africa (23 July 2024) — In October many cyclists across experience levels will take on the oldest road classic cycle race in the country—the Amashova National Classic. While scores will be competing for their own personal reasons, a special group will be competing for something beyond themselves; choosing to take a life-altering path for someone who most needs it as they lead the way of support for children fighting cancer.
Childhood cancer support organisation Rainbows and Smiles are inviting anyone who knows their way around two wheels to consider tackling the Amashova with them in mind as part of their ‘fundracing’ efforts for the children they support!
It’s an adrenaline inducing way to cycle for a cause, change a life and be a part of the reason someone fighting a battle much bigger than they are knows they have an army of cyclists behind them.
The Amashova takes place on 20 October in KwaZulu-Natal with different distances for cyclists of differing experience levels, namely the 38km, the 65km, the 106km and the final boss, the 132km.
And, those who raise certain amounts for Rainbows and Smiles will get to rock R&S cycling apparel!
How to Sign-Up for the Amashova (Rainbows and Smiles’ Version):
- Head here to sign up and pick your path
- Make sure to complete the form on the Rainbows and Smiles website
- You’ll then get a personal fundraising/crowdfunding campaign set up for you by the R&S team to share with those supporting your efforts!
