After watching their 11-year-old daughter compete internationally, the Weyers family now turns their focus to Kearan-Lee, hoping the community support can help him pursue a cricket opportunity abroad.

Johannesburg, South Africa (28 November 2025) – Benoni teenager Kearan-Lee Weyers has been making a name for himself on the cricket field, representing his school Hoërskool Hans Moore in the 1st Team Cricket squad, as well as competing in u18 Indoor IPTs and Easter Storm u17 tournaments. With a string of upcoming tournaments and tours, Kearan-Lee now faces the challenge of funding his cricket journey.

Kearan-Lee’s dedication and talent have earned him spots in upcoming tournaments and tours, but covering the costs has become a challenge for the family. His mother shared:

“He has worked very hard for these accomplishments. It would be very sad if he had to stop because we cannot cover these costs.”

The family has previously navigated similar hurdles when their 11-year-old daughter earned the opportunity to compete in Italy at the 2025 Aerial World Championships. Funding the trip themselves.

Shortly after, a slowdown in Kearan-Lee’s father’s business made it even more difficult to keep up with new commitments.

Kearan-Lee has shown unwavering commitment, balancing schoolwork with hours of training, and his achievements at the national and school level signal a promising future. To make it possible for him to continue competing, a BackaBuddy campaign has been launched to cover tournament and travel costs.

With community support, Kearan-Lee can continue pursuing his passion, build on his achievements, and follow in the footsteps of his sister while chasing his own dreams on the cricket field.
