The “Cape Doctor” has arrived which means the Red Bull King of the Air event is happening this weekend on the famous Table View beaches.

Table View, South Africa (25 November 2022) – The world’s best kiteboarders are assembling in Cape Town to unveil their best tricks for the 10th anniversary of the famous Red Bull King of the Air event. Even more famous, the daring kiteboarders that flock to Cape Town to be able to ride the wind and waves of Table Bay.

Beaches from Milnerton to Melkbos are often filled with hopeful kiteboarders looking to catch that big wind. With Red Bull selecting Cape Town as a premium spot for the competition, the beaches get even more exciting this time of year!

The weather window for the 2022 edition of the world’s most breathtaking big-air kiteboarding contest has now opened with the ‘Cape Doctor’ delivering the big wind needed on the water.

Contest director Olaf van Tol has made the final call with the south-easterly wind at Kite Beach in Blouberg providing winds above 25 knots (46kph) and ideally 35 to 37 knots (65 to 69kph) for what promises to be a thrilling weekend of action out on huge waves in the choppy sea.

Representing South Africa are Jason Van Der Spuy, Joshua Emanuel and Luca Ceruit. We cannot wait to see how the guys do.

So if you are in the area, head on over to the beach in Table View early tomorrow and cheer on our South African kiteboarders.

If you are not able to watch the event live and in action, you can watch online for free here.
