French World Cup winner, Kylian Mbappe, donated his full winnings to a charity that works with disabled and hospitalized children, getting them into sports.
France claimed a 4-2 victory against Croatia during the World Cup final. The win was widely celebrated around the world. Each player played their hearts out to score a victory for France.
Soccer players are some of the highest paid sportsmen in the world so naturally, they would earn big sums of money by taking part in the World Cup.
19-year-old Kylian Mbappe, who is a forward player for France, made roughly $22,500 for each of the seven games that France played at the World Cup. On top of that, he was given a $350,000 bonus for winning the tournament. All this adds up to a large sum!
Kylian Mbappe decided to do something amazing with the money. He decided to donate 100% of it to charity. He has been supporting Premiers de Cordee since 2017. The charity helps disabled and hospitalized children get into sports. In an interview with Le Parisien, Sebastien Ruffin, the general manager of the charity, discussed Kylian and his donation.
“Kylian, he’s a great person,”
“When his schedule allows it, he intervenes for us with pleasure,” he added. “He has a very good [relationship] with children, he always finds the right [words] to encourage them. I sometimes even feel that [he] takes more pleasure to play with the kids than the kids themselves.”
This is such an incredible thing to hear coming from the World Cup. This year was filled with so many good news stories and this one was the cherry on top!
