Meeka Romans has been invited to compete at the World Gymnaestrada in Amsterdam this year; the competition will propel her sporting career.

Bonteheuwel, South Africa (28 February 2023) – 10-year-old Meeka Romans has been chosen to represent South Africa at the 17th World Gymnaestrada in Amsterdam in July 2023 alongside her team from Bemur Gymnastics. This is a huge opportunity for this hopeful young gymnast, who hopes to make the country proud.

Her parents Craig and Pamela Romans were overjoyed when they heard the news and quickly started raising funds to get their daughter to Amsterdam. According to her parents, Meeka is an energetic, goal-driven, go-getter who is always striving to achieve new heights.

She graduated grade 3 in 2022 as the top achiever in her grade and was selected as the student of the year. She has proven to thrive on both the gymnastics mat and academically. Earning multiple awards in both disciplines.

Craig and Pamela hosted several events and have been able to raise R13,000 towards the needed R50,000. They plan to host three more fundraising events but have turned to crowdfunding as they have to get all of Meeka’s travel plans sorted out before she can leave in July 2023.

To make sure they reach the goal in time, the family turned to BackaBuddy to raise the remaining amount needed.

“We are humbly and respectfully requesting any form of assistance, within your means, that would contribute towards our fundraising efforts and course. It would be highly appreciated if you could be so kind to be one of the blessed humanitarians to make it possible for her and her team at Bemur Gymnastics to showcase their talents to proudly represent South Africa

Any form of assistance, goods, services or donations will be greatly appreciated and warmly excepted.

All person’s assisting will be recognized, acknowledged and Thanked Sincerely” – Craig and Pamela Romans

The World Gymnaestrada is a global, non-competitive event held every four years with the largest number of active participants in any gymnastics event. It was first started in the Netherlands in 1953. This year is expected to be the best and largest World Gymnaestrada ever.

It will be a highlight for all involved and Meeka really hopes she can be too. If you would like to support her dream, you can do so via her BackaBuddy fund here.
