Para-surfer Awande has been given his very first surfboard ahead of his participation in the AIRE-ZA KZN Para Surfing Championships and his joy is everything!

Durban, South Africa (03 March 2023) – Talented para-surfer Awande was gifted with his very first surfboard for the upcoming AIRE-ZA KZN Para Surfing Championships. This is the first time he has owned his own surfboard and his joy at receiving it has made us all smile today.

Made for More’ is a Non-Profit Company and a Public Benefit Organisation that aims to include, empower and equip people with disabilities through sports and mental health programmes.

‘Made for More’ uses sport as a vehicle to drive hope, build relationships, and instil morals and values while equipping and giving athletes the opportunity to pursue their sporting careers provincially and on a national level.

The organisation promotes surfing for people with disabilities, and it is one of their most successful campaigns. They have worked tirelessly towards uplifting the sporting code, training surfers to take part in events and setting up surfing events that are inclusive.

Made for More has seen many of its disadvantaged surfers thrive in the sport, with a few of the best heading to international waters to represent South Africa.

Safari Surfboards made the donation to Awande so he could compete in the upcoming championships, on a board of his very own. The team were so grateful for the generous donation.

“Shout out to Safari Surfboards -Spider Surfboards for blessing Awande with his very first surfboard ever for the upcoming AIRE-ZA KZN Para Surfing Championships.

Thank you for always supporting and backing Para Surfing in South Africa. We are so grateful for your wisdom, guidance and support over the years.

Awande has already taken the board for a spin and it is absolute MAGIC under his feet. This is definitely going to take his surfing to the next level.” – Made for More
