Siya Kolisi is swapping the French pitch for South African soil! The beloved rugby captain is set to return to SA.
South Africa (06 August 2024) – Get excited Mzansi, Siya Kolisi is coming back home!
Reports of the Springbok captain returning to South Africa have been doing the rounds and more recently been supported by the national rugby team’s coach Rassie Erasmus.
According to SA Rugby Magazine, Erasmus confirmed that Kolisi is preparing to return from France and has the full support of the Springboks to move back to South Africa.
Beyond his exceptional rugby leadership and skill, Siya Kolisi serves as a powerful symbol of unity and hope.
His journey from humble beginnings to becoming the captain of a World Cup-winning team inspires many South Africans who were elated to hear about his pending return home.
Recent reports suggest that Springbok captain Siya Kolisi is exploring options to cut short his contract with French club Racing 92. The move comes after less than a year since he joined the Top 14 side following South Africa’s back-to-back World Cup triumphs.
Kolisi’s decision follows criticism from Racing’s owner regarding his performance.
The Sharks are reported to be leading the race to sign the 33-year-old and Erasmus fully supported his Skipper’s move back home.
Siya Kolisi has proven to be an invaluable asset to South Africa. In addition to leading the Springboks to back-to-back World Cup glory in 2023, his commitments to social causes through the Kolisi Foundation further solidifies his status as a role model and a catalyst for positive change in the nation.
