Gottingen, Germany (16 June 2023) – The 2023 Special Olympics South Africa (SOSA) National Team touched down at Frankfurt Airport on the 12th of June, and what a welcome they received! The air was filled with thunderous applause and an atmosphere of celebration. Songs of joy, excitement, and encouragement echoed through the airport as the team signalled their readiness to take part in the upcoming games and immerse themselves in the local culture.
Without skipping a beat, the team was whisked away to their Host Town, the delightful Gottingen, as part of the incredible Special Olympics Host Town Programme. This international tradition allows visiting teams to get accustomed to their host country, promoting inclusion, unity, and mutual understanding.
In Gottingen, the SO South Africa team experienced a warm and heartfelt reception. This charming town, known for its historical significance and warm hospitality, pulled out all the stops for these remarkable athletes.
