Sportswoman Human Rights Caster Semenya

Caster Semenya has been voted Sportswoman of the year for the third year in a row after a stellar year breaking multiple records.

 

The Sports Awards took place yesterday and many of our incredible stars have come out with big wins. To start Caster Semenya was named Sportswoman of the year after her stellar year.

Caster Semenya broke various national records across the 400m, 800m and 1,500m events. The South African Sports Awards were hosted in Bloemfontein on Sunday night.

Not only did Caster win Sportswoman of the year, she also bagged two other awards including the Sports Star of the Year and the People’s Choice Award.

Chad Le Clos was named Sportsman of the year. Other sports stars included Tatjana Schoenmaker who was named the Newcomer of the year. She won a Gold for South Africa at the Common Wealth Games for the women’s 100-metre breaststroke.

SA’s female soccer team Banyana Banyana was named Team of the Year. All round it was a proud day for the sports stars of South Africa. Well done to everyone that was nominated or awarded.
