Melonie Croeser started her crowdfund in the hopes of ending up in China for the World Canoeing Championships, and it was successful.

Shaoxing, China – Melonie Croeser was the beneficiary of a successful crowdfund which has helped her reach her dream of competing in the World Canoeing Championships.

She started the crowdfund to raise the funds needed to join Team South Africa in China. She needed to raise R40,000.00 for flights, accommodation, transport, her sports kit and food. Thanks to generous donations, she was able to reach her crowdfunding goal.

“My being selected for this team has been a culmination of many hours of strenuous training and dedication and is a chance for me to proudly represent my country”

Melonie credits her grandfather Danie for introducing her to the sport and supporting her at every event she participated in.

“I am so extremely proud of Melonie. That type of proudness, where you can feel your heart swell up to three times its size. She has exceeded all expectations since she first climbed into a canoe 4 years ago. Dedication, persistence and perseverance.” – Danie Croeser, Grandfather.

Melonie was chosen to be the flag bearer for the opening ceremony. Another proud moment for her grandfather Danie.
