If you live in Africa or are above a certain age, you’re probably familiar with, “Africa,” the1982 song by rock band Toto.
It was definitely the band’s biggest hit, and the explosive chorus made it stand out from the other synth-heavy pop, heavy rock, and remaining vestiges of disco that were popular at the time.
The song has stood the test of time, covered by plenty of professional artists and karaoke singers alike.
This rendition, performed by the Angel City Chorale, is probably more explosive than any other.
Tackled by the groups 160 singers, it’s not just the voices that make this version stand out: Using palms, fingers, and deafening stomps, this group gives the soaring “Africa” the percussion intro it deserves. See the performance below.
Wow! What an amazing rendition of Africa! You are right! No other version will ever compare! Fantastic indeed!
Just beautiful
I am so touched by this that you have in years. I am so proud of being African
