When times are tough, a restaurant is a luxury which is why the owner of The Woodsman in Sabie, Christopher Georghiades, started a care fund; he hoped to spread a little kindness to people in need.
Sabie, South Africa (21 November 2022) – When travelling around South Africa, you are bound to find hidden gems along the way. That is the case when visiting Sabie in Mpumalanga, the quaint town is home to some popular restaurants and pubs that line the Main Street. One of these, The Woodsman Restaurant and Pub, is more than just a place to eat and drink, hidden at the back of its menu, is a little bit of good!
The owner, Christopher Georghiades launched a care fund a while back which he uses to provide a meal to a person in need.
He realised that in these tough times, there are many people who are not able to have a meal at a restaurant. Hoping to give people a little hope and kindness, he uses the restaurant care fund to give people the chance to have a meal surrounded by atmosphere and community.
“I come across people who do not have the means to go out and enjoy a meal. The elderly, a single mother or even just a person needing extra care.
When I come across this, I often use a care fund to provide a meal.” – Christopher
Patrons of the restaurant are welcome to add to the fund by purchasing a voucher. When the voucher is used, the team share the news with the patron along with any notes of thanks sent from the person in need.
The vouchers and care fund are handed over discreetly to make sure the recipient retains their dignity. This kindness is often met with great joy.
As we head into the festive season, many people will be struggling and kind acts like this go a long way in making the season a great one!
