South African dancers have officially raised the bar, and our flag, with 57 medals at one of the biggest dance events in the world. And one dance crew brought in 30 of them!

South Africa (10 July 2025) – The final results are slowly trickling in from Spain… and honestly, they’re blowing us away! South Africa has shown up at the 2025 Dance World Cup in a way that’s got our hearts bursting with pride.

One incredibly talented dance crew, the Hip Hop Dance Academy, has just returned with a whopping 13 gold medals. Yup, thirteen! But wait… there’s more. They’ve also stacked up 12 silver medals and 5 bronze medals, just from that one academy alone.

Let that sink in for a second.

Thirty medals from one crew!

Behind the scenes, Mario Gomes (an avid Good Things Guy reader) has been working day and night to gather the names, scores, and medal counts for the entire Hip Hop Dance Academy so we could celebrate these wins properly. Mario, thank you! You’ve made it possible for the whole nation to share in this incredible moment.

Last year, Team South Africa placed 8th overall, with 9 gold, 10 silver and 9 bronze medals. And this year, we’re 5th in the world with 57 medals (and counting!) now in our collective tally… and Hip Hop Dance Academy is bringing home more than half of them. Legends!

The videos of these golden performances have started rolling in, and we’re not even pretending to be cool about it anymore. We’ve cried. Cheered. Watched them on loop. It’s raw. It’s real. It’s ridiculously beautiful.

The 2025 Dance World Cup welcomed 8,500 dancers from 51 countries – all bringing their best to the floor. But there was something about Team South Africa. The energy. The heart. The rhythm. It was electric. You could feel the hope in every step, every beat, every moment.
