Schools may be closed, but that’s no reason for kids’ minds to be on pause, too. help2read’s recent holiday programme was a celebration of learning through play, with every child participating with enthusiasm, curiosity, and bright smiles.

Cape Town, South Africa (15 July 2025) – help2read’s holiday club has been a mixture of music, movement, and learning, giving youngsters a little dose of magic during the school term break.

The educational organisation’s literacy tutors hosted an unforgettable Holiday Club filled with fun, energy, and hands-on learning.

From singing along to Tootie Ta by Jack Hatmann to boost coordination and building phonics skills, to racing through letter-sound games and grabbing cups in a fastest-listener challenge, every activity was designed to spark joy and strengthen literacy skills in young minds.

An educational puppet show also reminded learners to care for one another and protect our environment, while the cup tower challenge taught patience and focus.

help2read is a non-profit dedicated to literacy development and community empowerment through education and youth promotion. Through the support of its partners, like The Star Foundation, and generous donors, the charity has worked in over 400 schools and helped 23,000 children learn to read since 2006.

Their primary goal is to provide high-quality reading support that not only develops literacy but also builds community cohesion and creates employment.

This recent holiday club beautifully showcased help2read’s creative approach to improving lives through literacy.

It was all about learning through play, and the learners showed up with heart, curiosity, and bright smiles!
