Johannesburg’s young dancers call for support as they aim to showcase South African talent at the IDO World Championships in Belgium.
Johannesburg, South Africa (02 September 2025) – We are set to see yet another group of dancers taking the global stage by storm! A group of passionate and talented young dancers from JoziDance in Johannesburg are preparing to fly South Africa’s flag high at the IDO World Championships in Belgium this coming November. Their selection is not only a dream come true, but also a testament to years of dedication, and resilience.
These dancers have been on a remarkable journey competing in regional qualifiers, earning their provincial colours, and now proudly preparing to don the iconic green and gold Protea blazers. Behind every step and turn, and leap lies hours of training and countless sacrifices, all leading up to this incredible opportunity to perform among the world’s best. This is not just about dance, but about pride and representation
The upcoming trip, however, comes with significant costs, including flights, accommodation, and competition fees. For many of these dancers, opportunities like this are rare, and financial hurdles can easily stand in the way. To make sure nothing holds them back, a BackaBuddy campaign has been launched to support their journey.
South Africa is no stranger to success on the international dance stage. Not too long ago, another group of local dancers returned from Spain with a gold medal, and the JoziDance team is hoping to follow in their footsteps, bringing home not just medals, but also pride for their communities and the country.
Now, they are calling on South Africans to rally behind them. Every donation, no matter how small, helps take them one step closer to Belgium and one step closer to making history.
This is a chance to inspire, to showcase South African excellence, and to prove once again that when our youth are given the stage, they can shine as brightly as anyone in the world.
