QASA launches a festive season road safety drive, urging South Africans to buckle up, stay alert and make smarter choices behind the wheel before holiday traffic kicks in.
South Africa (03 December 2025)- As South Africans gear up for December road trips, family visits and long-awaited holidays, the QuadPara Association of South Africa (QASA) is rolling out a festive gift that could save lives, a nationwide reminder to Buckle Up.
Instead of waiting for accidents to happen, QASA is hitting the highways early this year with an important mission: making sure every driver and passenger heads into the holidays safely strapped in.
With spinal cord injuries still heavily linked to road crashes, QASA says it wants to help South Africans avoid life-changing harm before it happens, as it puts it bluntly.
“We don’t want new members. A spinal cord injury comes at a great personal and financial cost. We’d like to prevent these kinds of injuries where possible.”
To drive the message home, QASA teams will be posted at major service stations on 5 and 6 December, chatting with holiday travellers, sharing real-life stories, and encouraging motorists to commit to safer habits. Drivers who take the pledge will walk away with a free branded licence-disc sticker.

This year’s festive road-safety drive highlights how easily people forget the simplest safety step of all. QASA says many motorists still underestimate the danger.
“People often underestimate the risk of not wearing a seatbelt when in reality, it is crucial to your safety. Even if you consider yourself a safe driver, you can’t prevent other drivers or circumstances from causing an accident.”
QASA also raised a red flag about texting and driving, which they say remains one of the biggest dangers on the road.
“It can be very tempting to quickly check or respond to a message while driving. But that small choice can leave you with the life-long battle of being a wheelchair user in a world not built to accommodate you.”
Holidaymakers travelling through the Engen Winelands 1 Stop North (towards Paarl) in the Western Cape will be among the first to meet the QASA team, with additional locations to be announced.
“If you are in the area, we urge you to stop at the stations, sign our pledge and buckle up. A crash can happen in a moment. And a small action can make a big difference in preventing serious injury.”
