Cape Town, South Africa (02 February 2026) – Just months before the 2026 FIFA World Cup kicks off across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, South African fans got a chance to see the iconic trophy up close.
Cape Town played host to the grand finale of the FIFA World Cup Trophy tour in South Africa, with soccer fans and former legends alike turning out to celebrate. After stops at the Union Buildings in Pretoria and the Pretoria State Theatre, the trophy made its final appearance at the V&A Waterfront, giving fans one last chance to admire this symbol of football glory.

Soccer greats Aaron Mokoena and Siphiwe Tshabalala joined current national team captain Ronwen Williams as they welcomed the trophy, sharing in the excitement of fans across the country.
Bafana Bafana, drawn in Group A alongside Mexico, South Korea, and a third yet-to-be-determined side, are gearing up to showcase their talent on the world stage.
From Pretoria to Cape Town, the trophy’s journey through South Africa reminded everyone of the global spectacle just around the corner and gave fans a moment to dream big ahead of the tournament.
