In Kenton, kindness now looks like covering someone’s next cup of coffee or sarmie!
Kenton on Sea, South Africa (09 August 2026) – The Rotary Club of Kenton on Sea has launched its Rotary Kindness Project, giving people a simple way to buy a little treat for someone else.
The idea is much like saying ‘this one’s on me’ – except you can send the treat to someone even when you’re not together. Through the project, residents can buy a digital voucher for a friend, colleague, neighbour or anyone they think could use a little pick-me-up. The recipient can then use the voucher at a participating local business.
The first business to take part is Dilly Deli, where people can buy and redeem Rotary Kindness Vouchers. The club hopes to bring more local businesses into the project once the pilot phase is complete.
And the whole thing is designed to be simple. There is no app or complicated sign-up. All you need to do is scan a code, follow the prompts and send the generated voucher to your chosen recipient on WhatsApp. Once received, it’s up to them to enjoy! The vouchers are single-use, and no cash or change can be given, so the full value needs to be used when the voucher is redeemed.
The Rotary Club says the deli is the pilot business for the project, but the hope is to expand the Rotary Kindness Project to other establishments once the pilot phase is complete. This not only creates more kindness in the community, it also supports small local businesses!
“Whether it is a thank you, a little encouragement or simply because someone crossed your mind, a Rotary Kindness Voucher is an easy way to let them know.” the organisation shares. “Be kind. Make someone’s day.”
