Bruwer’s beautifully edited fan video has been named a finalist in World Athletics’ Ultimate Fan Challenge.

South Africa (13 August 2026) – Sometimes a sports video does more than show you what happened; it makes you feel like you were there.

That is exactly what South African schoolboy, Bruwer, has managed to do, earning a place among five global finalists in World Athletics’ Ultimate Athletics Championship Fan Challenge.

Bruwer’s entry, “The Prestige Cup”, won the Emotion & Legacy category, putting him in the running for the overall Ultimate Fan title.

With its fast-paced editing, big emotions and stunning moments from the track and field, the video captures the excitement that makes athletics so special. There is the anticipation, the nerves, the celebrations and that unmistakable feeling of watching athletes give everything they have.

For a few minutes, you don’t feel like you’re watching from the sidelines. You feel like you’re right there.

Bruwer’s entry was selected alongside four other finalists from hundreds of submissions around the world. The other finalists represent the categories of Participation & Embodiment, Presence & Pilgrimage, Lifestyle & Culture, and Community & Sharing.

Now, the final decision is in the hands of athletics fans.

Voting is open until 14 August at 23:59 CEST, with fans able to support their favourite finalist through Instagram.

The winner will secure the final spot in the Ultimate Fan Challenge Final in Budapest, where they will compete alongside the two finalists from Phase One. And there’s an extra-special prize waiting for the finalists. The chance to meet Usain Bolt and take part in the final in front of thousands of fans.
