Olivia-Grace is only in Grade 1, yet she already knows just how far one selfless act of kindness can go.
Gauteng, South Africa (14 August 2026) – After a conversation with her family about the importance of not being wasteful, 7-year-old Grade 1 learner Olivia-Grace Kupferman made an incredibly kind and selfless decision to cut off her long hair and donate it to help cancer patients.
This week, in recognition of their learner’s beautiful act of kindness, her school shared the story on social media. Olivia-Grace has since been celebrated by hundreds of people who engaged with the post, praising the young lady for her thoughtful gesture.
“We would like to share a special story about Olivia-Grace Kupferman from Grade 1D, who recently made an incredibly thoughtful and selfless decision,” Ashton International College Benoni shared.
“After a family discussion about the importance of not wasting things, whether it be food or hair, Olivia-Grace decided that her long hair could be put to much better use. At just 7 years old, Olivia-Grace chose to cut and donate her 25 cm ponytail to help cancer patients.
We are so proud of Olivia-Grace for showing such compassion and generosity at such a young age. She is an inspiration to us all.”
This is the kind of kindness that inspires. Because Olivia-Grace’s parents spoke to her about the importance of not being wasteful, and the difference that a simple act of kindness – that sharing – can make, she found a way to make a meaningful impact in her own small, brave and selfless way.
