Fourways’ littlest businessman, Viktor, is stitching together big dreams, and he’s giving back in blankets!
Johannesburg, South Africa (25 August 2026) – A story shared by a local community group popped up on our radar and left us with big smiles and inspiration in equal parts.
Viktor Buwerimwe is an energetic eight-year-old who loves exploring, gaming and fast cars – but he also has a fierce entrepreneurial spirit. With a sewing machine as his tool, his dreams for the future are already taking shape.
It all started two years ago. Viktor’s mom, Shylet, owns her own reupholstery business, and Viktor became fascinated with her sewing machine when he was only six!
His mom chose to nurture that curiosity and taught him how to sew. Soon after, Viktor began selling his wares.
“Shylet taught him to thread the machine and sew, and his first creation was a baby pillow. Soon he was making baby duvet covers and pillowcases, and Viktor’s Shop began to grow.” shares I Love Fourways.

Having already racked up some experience in the world of entrepreneurship by selling sweets at markets alongside his mom, Viktor’s sewing business grew from strength to strength – before he was even old enough to get his pen licence at school.
Now, he loves making dog blankets and car dustbins. There’s a special story behind the dog blankets, too.
I Love Fourways shares that one of Viktor’s customers was a supporter of Pug Rescue South Africa. Before his passing, Mark would purchase blankets from Viktor to donate to the local animal welfare organisation.
“One of [Viktor’s] customers, Uncle Mark, regularly bought blankets from him to donate to Pug Rescue South Africa. Sadly, Uncle Mark passed away. After visiting the rescue himself, [Viktor] decided he wanted to continue helping the dogs and carry on Uncle Mark’s legacy.”

Not only is this young man flexing his business skills before he knows his twelve times tables, he’s learning the importance and value of giving. He has also helped fellow school learners do the same by his involvement with their community projects where dog blankets were sold to create support for other worthy causes.
Viktor’s mom is incredibly proud of him.
“His mom says one of her proudest moments is watching [Viktor] confidently talk to customers, explain his products and convince them to buy.”

The group shares that Viktor recently introduced a logo for his small business, as well as his signature on his products as his own trademark. He dreams of one day owning his own shop and becoming the CEO of a company. Given the journey he’s had so far, those dreams are certainly off to a strong start.
“…[Viktor] has big plans. He dreams of owning his own shop and becoming the CEO of a registered company when he grows up. He’d also quite like to become a gamer!”
I Love Fourways concluded its post celebrating the little local business spark with Viktor’s advice for other young children. This is the part that had us smiling most!
“Listen and learn from your parents, teachers and older people. And above all, help others.”
