Waterstone College is proudly celebrating Alicia and her journey, while inspiring other young learners to dream big and see where their own talents can take them.
Johannesburg, South Africa (26 August 2026) – Waterstone College is celebrating one of its young stars after her passion for Dance Sport took her all the way to the international stage in the United Kingdom.
Alicia, a Waterstone learner, recently represented South Africa at the prestigious United Dance Organisation (UDO) World Championships in Blackpool, where she competed alongside some of the country’s top young dancers.
Her trip to the UK came with an extra honour, too. Alicia was appointed Captain of the Dance Sport Team South Africa for the UK delegation, adding another special moment to an already memorable experience.
She partnered with Kude Nokwali and battled their way through the competition to reach the semi-finals, finishing among the Top 15 dancers in the world.
For Waterstone College, the achievement is particularly special because Alicia’s journey began much closer to home.
The school says its teachers and coaches have supported her development and passion for Dance Sport, creating an environment where she could build her confidence, sharpen her skills and pursue her ambitions.
Her journey has taken her from representing her school, to competing for her province, and now proudly wearing the South African colours on the world stage.
The school says every learner has talents and interests that deserve to be recognised, nurtured and given room to grow.
From Waterstone’s stage to Blackpool, Alicia has certainly taken her moves a long way. With a Top 15 world finish already under her belt, there is plenty of reason to believe this is only the beginning.
