A new way to stay up to date with Durbs’ best food, drink, culture, nightlife, neighbourhoods, experiences and escapes!

KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa (01 September 2026) – One of the world’s most trusted city guides has just landed in Durbs!

Time Out South Africa has officially launched a dedicated platform covering the best of the city through the eyes of locals who know its culture and understand the experiences that deserve attention.

The worldwide platform was first founded in the ‘60s in London to help people discover the exciting new urban cultures that had started up all over the city. Now, it reaches 350 cities across more than 50 countries around the world, always through the eyes of people who live there.

Time Out Durban follows the launch of Time Out Cape Town and Time Out Johannesburg, both of which launched last year.

The new platform is being built for Durbanites and visitors. It’ll cover major restaurant openings, headline events, neighbourhood businesses, local personalities, beaches, markets, nightlife, family activities and road trips across KZN.

The platform will also support and amplify the voices of local writers, creatives, cultural voices and community experts who shine a light on the city from the inside.

Aisha Mohamed, Managing Director of Time Out South Africa, says Durban was a natural next step for the brand.

“It is a city with such a distinct personality and an incredibly rich mix of culture, food, creativity, entertainment and outdoor experiences. There is always something happening, but part of the challenge for both locals and visitors is knowing where to look and what is genuinely worth experiencing. Time Out Durban gives us the opportunity to bring those stories together through a trusted editorial platform and celebrate the people, places and experiences that make this city so special.”

Good things keep on coming for Durbs. A recent global survey conducted by Time Out ranked Durban as one of the best places in the world to travel to in 2026. The new city guide gives both locals and visitors one more way to make the most of it!
