Security Officer Brings Calm to Woman Stranded on Dangerous Botha’s Hill Bend

When a woman’s car broke down on a dangerous uphill curve, a compassionate security guard didn’t just stop to ask if everything was okay and drive away. He stayed and went out of his way to help secure the tow and escort her and her husband to safety, turning a moment of terror into a powerful reminder of human kindness.

Botha’s Hill, South Africa (23 September 2026) – Good people exist, and they make a difference – even if they don’t realise it.

When Warren Brauns’ wife’s car broke down in the left-hand lane on a blind bend along Botha’s Hill, her panic was quickly eased by a calm and helpful stranger driving a security vehicle.

“For those who know Botha’s Hill, you will know exactly how dangerous that situation was. Vehicles come around those bends at speed, and having a stationary vehicle there was incredibly risky,” Warren shares the dangerous circumstances in a social media post.

In that stranded moment with fast cars zooming past, a gentleman driving a Nhlalenhle Security vehicle didn’t just stop to ask if everything was okay and drive away. He stayed and ensured Warren’s wife was safe, and secured the situation as best he could until Warren arrived.

Warren says that when he got there, the man could have left, as he had already done more than most people would have. But he didn’t.

“He jumped in and helped me hook up the necessary tow ropes and towing mechanisms so that we could safely tow the vehicle out of the dangerous position. He then followed us up Botha’s Hill to make sure that everything was okay and that we got to safety.”

Unfortunately, in the stress of the situation and the urgency to get the vehicles out of harm’s way, Warren never managed to get the security officer’s name. However, his hope is that he’ll see the post expressing Warren and his wife’s deep gratitude for his patience, help and kindness.

“To the gentleman driving NHLALENHLE Security vehicle CH 47 LW ZN — THANK YOU. You were polite, calm, friendly and professional. More importantly, you saw someone in trouble and chose to stop and help. You didn’t know us. You didn’t have to stop. You didn’t have to wait. And you certainly didn’t have to get involved and help us get the vehicle safely out of danger. But you did. That says a lot about the person you are.

“In a world where we sometimes hear so much about people not getting involved, today we experienced the complete opposite. You reminded us that there are still genuinely good people out there who are willing to help a stranger simply because it’s the right thing to do,” wrote Warren in the heartfelt post.

Warren further shared that he would also be contacting Nhlalenhle Security directly to let them know that their driver made a real difference to two people who were in a very difficult and potentially dangerous situation.
