Oh, but won’t a little sweetness (and a whole lot of heart) do it! This National Cupcake Day, South Africans united through cupcakes and compassion to raise more than R2.1 million, which will help bring practical support and renewed hope to young cancer warriors and their families.

South Africa (02 October 2026) – This past Saturday, 80 malls across South Africa, along with schools, workplaces and communities, became part of something truly special: bringing hope and vital support to children and families courageously facing cancer.

National Cupcake Day saw thousands of South Africans become ‘Cupcake Angels’ by baking and sharing cupcakes to raise funds for Cupcakes 4 Kids with Cancer, helping the organisation provide practical, emotional and financial support to families navigating childhood cancer.

Last year alone, the organisation supported more than 140 children every month, approved almost 2,000 requests for financial assistance and delivered 3,766 Hospital Care Bags to children in all 21 paediatric oncology wards across South Africa.

This year, the bakers baked up a storm, the coordinators planned and executed, cupcake lovers arrived with their sweet cravings and wallets ready, and donors gave generously – all contributing to a spectacularly successful fundraiser.

After tallying the results from malls across South Africa, Cupcakes 4 Kids with Cancer is humbled and incredibly grateful to announce that an amazing R2,106,021 was raised, thanks to every kind heart that supported National Cupcake Day!

“What a blessing this has been! Every cupcake baked, every donation made, every hour given, and every prayer lifted has played a part in making a difference in the lives of little cancer patients,” Cupcakes 4 Kids with Cancer said.

Still moved by the incredible achievement, the charity expressed its immense gratitude to every one of its incredible coordinators, whose dedication, countless hours and servant hearts made National Cupcake Day 2026 possible.

“To our bakers, volunteers, shopping centres, corporate partners, donors and everyone who stood alongside us… this is what happens when we come together with one purpose and spread Cupcake Love and God’s Love across South Africa. Because of your generosity, we can continue assisting more than 140 little cancer patients every month, bringing practical help, hope and love when it is needed most.”

It just goes to show what a little sweetness and a whole lotta heart can do! With over 2 million reasons to be grateful and hundreds of young lives set to benefit, we join the charity in praising South Africans for their wonderful support of a great cause and for helping to ‘bake’ a difference!
