A local business chose to give back in the most wholesome way when it welcomed the pups from Tshwane SPCA in Centurion for a day of pampering and proper TLC!

Centurion, South Africa (22 October 2026) – Most of us with dogs at home spoil them rotten. They get treats, toys and regular visits to the pup parlour.

The dogs at the SPCA aren’t often as lucky, at least not until they move on to their forever homes. Many of them have been abandoned, abused or neglected. Even in the SPCA’s care, they don’t always get to experience the love that comes from belonging to a family.

Recently, the pooches at the Tshwane SPCA in Centurion got to spend a day feeling loved, pampered and cared for.

A local business, Irene Doggy Parlour, generously offered to groom them all for free!

“Your wonderful team went above and beyond to give our doggies some much-needed pampering, from gentle baths and grooming to making sure they were clean, comfortable and beautifully cared for.” the SPCA wrote, addressing the team on social media.

“Your gentle handling, patience and genuine affection helped make their grooming experience something truly special.”

A little extra attention can mean the world to these innocent souls still waiting for their forever homes. Just look at these pups enjoying their special day at the ‘spa’!

“From all of us at the Tshwane SPCA Centurion Branch, a huge thank you to Irene Doggy Parlour for treating our precious dogs with such kindness and compassion. You have truly made them feel special!” the SPCA added.

And perhaps this can serve as a little inspiration for the rest of us. How can we use our skills to help others? Offer to walk the dogs at your local animal shelter. Knit a blanket for the hospice around the corner. Bake and sell some cookies, and pass the profits on to a charity.

That’s how you become a helper.

On that note, Good Things Guy has partnered with The Helpers, a platform that connects people who want to make a difference with charities, animal welfare organisations and causes that need them.

Whether you want to donate, volunteer your time or share a skill (like grooming, baking or knitting), The Helpers makes that first step easier by showing you where your support can go furthest.

It’s also the home of 1 Million Good Things Before Christmas, a nationwide challenge to complete one million acts of kindness before the festive season. Building towards World Kindness Day on 13 November, the campaign aims to prove that you really don’t need money, influence or a big platform to make a difference.

Ready to add your good thing to the count? Head to The Helpers to find an animal shelter or cause that speaks to you, and watch the live counter grow as South Africans choose kindness together.
