Nurse Steps In

When a nurse came across a video of a woman battling multiple health challenges and longing for nothing but to breathe and move beyond the confines of her bedroom, she couldn’t just scroll past – stepping in to secure her a portable oxygen concentrator and a whole new lease on life!

Johannesburg, South Africa (30 October 2026) – A woman living with heart failure, pulmonary embolism, liver failure and ascites has received a lifeline thanks to her desperate plea that fell on the right hearts.

For the longest time, Sinazo Mlungu has longed for one thing: to breathe beyond her bedroom. She has publicly shared her health struggles on her TikTok platform and the reality of depending on oxygen to help her breathe.

Recently, her desire to move around freely and regain some of her independence with the aid of a portable oxygen concentrator was heard by a nurse clinician who simply couldn’t scroll past one of her videos.

When the nurse, Angela Masana Malobola Hobyane, saw that Sinazo has been enduring illness and challenges very few will ever truly understand, she knew she had to find some way to help.

“Her story touched my heart, and I knew I wanted to help her,” shares Angela in a post.

Angela’s initial plan was to rent a machine for Sinazo, so she approached a woman she had worked with and requested a quotation for the rental.

“I also shared Sinazo’s story with her, and she was equally touched. She asked me to give her some time to think about the best way to approach the situation.”

After a week or so, her colleague returned with wonderful news: VitalAire would generously sponsor the machine – meaning Angela would not have to rent one for Sinazo after all!

And on Thursday afternoon, the day that Sinazo’s prayers and pleas would be answered had finally arrived. Angela delivered the iGO2 portable oxygen concentrator to Sinazo, and her excitement was indescribable!

“After so many years, she can finally leave her home without constantly worrying about not being able to breathe. Just imagine what this means to someone who has spent years longing for such freedom,” shares Angela.

Angela expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Zakiyya Mather from the home healthcare provider company for answering the call and making this possible for Sinazo.

“Your kindness has made a life-changing difference, and I hope you know just how much this means to her.”

Angela confirmed that Sinazo would be receiving further support and care from her clinic at Braamfischerville and looks forward to walking this journey with her.

And as for Sinazo, she is eternally grateful for the donation that will allow her to experience life freely and differently for the first time in a very long time. As she put it in her own heartfelt words:

“This will be my first Christmas outside. You have no idea what a blessing this is to me.”

Sometimes, all it takes is one person sharing a story, another person opening their heart, and a team of compassionate people coming together to change someone’s life.
