Ever wonder what is under Table Mountain? Now you can see for yourself!

Adam Spires the ‘Wannabe Vlogger’ has posted a video of an adventure he and some friends had wandering the mines underneath Table Mountain.

If you are wondering where you have heard of Adam Spires before, he is the awesome guy that carried Chaeli Mycroft on his back, to the top of Lions Head.

Adam and a few adventurers recently went on a tour of the Tin mine tunnels that are under Table Mountain. He commented that 99% of people don’t know about the tunnels, but now a few more people definitely do!

“The Vredehoek tin mine operation was short-lived, 1910-1912, employed a staff of 100 people at one stage and was listed on the Cape Town Stock Exchange – Sammy Marks was reputed to have been a shareholder.”

The entrance to the tunnel is a bit of a squeeze and pretty hidden from sight. The tunnels go about 100 metres into the mountain and 30 metres down. There are a few paths that lead off in different directions. Adam urges people not to attempt to venture into the mine tunnels without someone who knows exactly what they are doing.

At one point in the tunnel they come across a huge cavernous space with a deep pool of water. Adam and the adventurers spot a huge porcupine within the area as well. We would not like to be there with a dying torch battery!
