Kindness South African Traffic

An Anonymous good samaritan from Randburg is reminding all South Africans to share a little more kindness.

Felicity Coughlan was driving in Randburg when she spotted a person in a car handing out neatly packed sandwiches. She immediately took to social media to share a pic of the car with this message:

“Please share …the driver of this car rocks! I was behind this car for 20 minutes in Randburg traffic this morning. Fed people at several traffic lights. Neatly packed sandwiches. Effort and compassion. No idea who you are and your arm out the window did not disclose anything including gender. You rock. Hope you have an awesome day.”

Coughlan decided to share the post to inspire others and give the anonymous good samaritan some recognition.

“I am at peace with celebrating good people… particularly those that don’t need or ask for the recognition. It is a tough and desperate world in which small things that are magnificent are precious beyond description. I want people driving today looking out for this decent person and maybe smiling and waving and adding to their day.”

“And most importantly maybe feeling better themselves about what ordinary people can do.”

“I do want this person to know that their acts are seen and valued. I want them to know that in the messed up world that makes their small gesture so huge that there are people like you and I that have seen, thought and formed an opinion even if not the same one. I want this person to know that their stone of compassion has ripples beyond the tummy of the person fed. I want them to feel inspired too…”

  1. I ran out of petrol on the highway just before the 14th Ave offramp at 2am on Wednesday morning. So I walked to the nearest garage only to find they were closed. I then called Uber. The driver arrived and took me to the next nearest garage. I only had R70 on me so I put R40 petrol in a can and the Uber guy took me back to my car. I asked him to wait while I got my car started. I then passed him the R30 I had left which he refused to accept and said please go back to the garage, give them their can and put more petrol into your car. Thank you Uber and your very kind driver.
