A company held a competition to give away a borehole to someone in Cape Town. The winner decided to donate it to an animal shelter instead!

Rick Christie of Cublo Drilling hosted a competition on the Water Shedding Western Cape Facebook group. The competition prize was a borehole and three people were selected as winners.

The Facebook group is a forum for people to share tips and deals when it comes to saving water in the Western Cape. This platform is also occasionally used to promote businesses that have water saving technology. Cublo Drilling contacted an admin of the group to run the giveaway. They only had one request when picking winners and that was that one had to be for an animal shelter.

“The sponsor has asked, as an animal lover, that one of the boreholes goes to an animal shelter, to ensure that the animals in their care will not suffer from lack of water. Thank, Rick, for such a kind gesture. Videos will be shared when work commences at the shelter.”

The admin then selected 3 winners, one of which was an animal shelter. The shelter selected is the Uitsig Animal Rescue Centre. People were blown away by the gesture. The awesomeness doesn’t stop there though!

One of the winners, Gareth and Coralie Bradburn decided to donate their new borehole to an animal shelter as well.”

“OMG, we are so thrilled. We made a pledge to pay it forward if we won and cannot believe what has happened. We ask that our borehole is awarded to Lucky Lucy. They have over 400 dogs and cats and no water. They really need the gift. Thank you so much to Cublo Drilling Company.” – Gareth and Coralie Bradburn

Their kindness sparked an influx of good feels and people were so happy that a second animal shelter would be getting assistance. The generous couple has received hundreds of comments thanking them for their good deed.

“I’m actually in tears. THANK YOU for your generosity in helping those innocent souls who rely on us the most. Blessings and abundance. I honour you” – Christine De Nobrega
