Roxanne immediatly told the class that while they might not want to, she has bigger dreams and wants to do her exams.
Growing up on the farmlands in Porterville, she has seen her mother work hard for very little. She has seen what a lack of education has done to her family and is point blank refusing to head down the same path. She has seen her mother exhausted by a life of hard work.
She told her mother that she does not want to work the land. She wants to work in an office and go to university.
Roxanne’s drive to better her life is truly inspirational. It takes one brave little girl to stand up to the class and demand an education, to demand respect for the teacher.
