Johannesburg, South Africa – A group of Cyclists are dedicating their 94.7 cycle challenges to charity, using the cycle race to raise much-needed funding. A handful of people are raising money for the Down Syndrome Association in Pretoria.
Many know someone who has Down Syndrome which is why the cause is so close to their hearts. From parents to siblings, these incredible people are taking on a massive challenge for a good cause.
Just over a month from now, thousands of people will be cycling 94.7km. The gruelling challenge starts at Riversands in Fourways. The route has been flipped so its the same route as before, it is just running in the opposite direction this year.
So far, five people have started crowdfunds on BackaBuddy and each person is raising R10,000.00 for the association.
They are raising funds to help the Down Syndrome Association sustain their vital services of support and empowerment for persons with Down Syndrome and their parents.
If you would like to support them, you can pick your champion here. There are hundreds of people doing the cycle challenge. If you go support them, you will spot many people cycling in funny outfits and costumes all for a good cause.
These are some of the people taking part. Charlene Boshoff is doing the cycle challenge to honour her son who was born with Down Syndrom. Zora and Marc Wegerif are cycling together, in 2017 Zora became the first person with Down syndrome to complete the 94.7.
