Shoes are symbolic of pride and give confidence to young learners knowing that they can walk to school in comfort, as opposed to barefoot.

Johannesburg, South Africa – To many, a pair of new school shoes is just an addition to the standard school uniform. Nothing more than an annual update but to some, it is a goal, something to take pride in and care for.

Shoes are the barrier between soft little feet and Africa’s tough terrain. We may take shoes for granted, but there are at least 7 million children in South Africa who don’t; 7 million children who are reminded of this fact every time a classmate teases them or they have to stay home because they have cut their feet walking the road to school.

Priorities such as food take a precedent over new school shoes, so many bright young children never get the joy of putting on a brand new pair of school shoes. Many wear shoes that are too small or too big or shoes that are broken and worn out.

The truth is that shoes do make a difference, a lot more than we think.

A new pair of school shoes instils a sense of pride and inspires confidence which can uplift a child in such a way that they change their future and create a better world.

The Krush Goodness #ShareTheGoodness project by Clover Krush will aim to give 20 000 children across South Africa a brand new pair of school shoes to equip them for the school year ahead in 2020.

“Goodness means making a positive impact on the people around me, leaving people feeling better than when I found them. Every day I get to share good news stories with South Africans and the world, contributing to their sentiment towards our beautiful country… giving them a reason to be proudly South African and inspiring them to share a little goodness with their friends and family too.” – Brent Lindeque, one of the ambassadors for this year’s Clover Krush Goodness campaign.

In 2018, upon launching the project, the brand set out to show that adding a little bit of goodness every day has the power to change the world for the better.

“The first’ # KrushGoodness’ project was an incredible success. Not only did it help 10 000 scholars who were most in need of school shoes, but it opened our eyes to the immense need for school shoes by so many children in communities across South Africa.” – Clover Krush

“That said, we could not allow the project to be a once-off thing. We had to commit to spreading goodness in this way over the long term, so we have committed to helping kids again, and we intend on spreading the goodness even further by now assisting 20 000 children with school shoes.”

Now in its third year, the Goodness campaign aims to keep doing good and helping kids get the shoes that will change their lives. On top of that, every time you buy a Krush, you are helping the campaign donate shoes and you stand the chance of winning your share of R500 000 in cash!
