We survive hard times by having the courage to dream despite all that we are going through. The power of our imagination is a source of hope and personal strength for all South Africans!
South Africa (15 November 2020) – South African visual artist Marc-Gregory has kickstarted a campaign to raise funds in collaboration with several notable celebrities including Khuli Chana, Nadia Nakai, Maps Maponyane, DJ PH, Farah Fortune, J’Something, Candice Modiselle and Pepe Marais.
Partnering with Reach For a Dream, Marc-Gregory has created a series of visual art pieces, called the Covid Creative Collection to encourage South Africa’s youth to summon their inner resilience and dream big, especially now.
“We survive hard times by having the courage to dream despite all that we are going through. The power of our imagination is a source of hope and personal strength for all South Africans,” says Marc-Gregory.
The COVID Creative Collection has been produced during the lockdown period using the latest Canon EOS R camera, Godox studio lighting, Sigma lenses and Adobe Photoshop, and will feature in the production of the upcoming book, ‘In Good Company’, which documents South African culture through the lens of our country’s top artists and leaders.

“Every image has a narrative an important message for all of us. If only one photograph can offer reprise and inspiration to South Africans even for a moment, we will have created something magical,” says Marc-Gregory.
The making of this Collective art was done with the Canon EOS R camera, Godox studio lighting, Sigma lens and Adobe.
Julia Sotirianakos, CEO of Reach For a dream remarking on the work, “The art has a magical, dreamlike quality. There’s an underlying optimism here. My hope is that South Africans will appreciate this art as a reminder of our responsibility as active citizens to not be passive but contribute to the growth and dreams of young people in the country at this time.”
Commenting on the partnership with Reach For a Dream, Marc-Gregory added a personal hope of helping young South Africans connect with South Africa’s most admired figures and be inspired to pursue their creative dreams.
J’Something commented on his image adding, “One day at a time, one moment at a time. Slow down and enjoy your next breath. Forget about yesterday, worry not about tomorrow, but place all your energy into RIGHT NOW.”
“People will have the life we create for them in this moment, and we all hold the power to touch another life in need. A smile, a donation or a contribution all makes an impact” Maps Maponyane added.
By making a donation, one lucky donor will get chosen to win a photographic studio experience with their own visual art valued at over R50,000.
Each Rand donated will go towards the Reach For A Dream foundation helping children to use the power of their dreams to fight life-threatening illnesses and make these dreams come true.
