The Smart Living outreach programme is currently visiting under-resourced schools thanks to a generous donor – this is how to sign your school up.
Cape Town, South Africa (29 October 2021) – Under-resourced schools are being given an exciting outreach programme thanks to the Two Ocean’s Aquarium Education Foundation, Smart Living and a generous donation from DHL.
The TOA Education Foundation shared that the Smart Living outreach programme is specifically designed to engage with learners around making smart choices when it comes to energy, water, waste and biodiversity.
Lessons are aimed at Grades 5, 6 and 7 learners. Trained teacher Anzio Abels can run lessons for 200 children in up to 5 classes a day, in either English or Afrikaans. Booking is essential as spaces are limited. The classes will run until December 2021.
“Each lesson has been specifically compiled to focus on aspects such as biodiversity, natural heritage, water conservation, energy-saving and waste minimisation, and are CAPS curriculum-aligned. Learners are taken on a fun and visually appealing journey to explore the selected topic, with the aim of developing their sustainability knowledge; guiding them in making more informed choices, and providing a platform through which they can explore alternatives to products and services that are considered essential.”
The exciting lessons are Covid compliment. You can learn more about the compliancy here. Under-resourced schools can book a free visit from the Smart Living outreach programme by emailing schools@aquariumfoundation.org.za
