Cat Angel Refuge, a sanctuary for many vulnerable cats and dogs, has had an influx of animals, especially those involved in legal cases, which has severely strained their resources. By sponsoring an animal, you can directly contribute to their well-being and help them find their forever home.
Ramotshere Moiloa, South Africa (10 December 2024) – Cat Angel Refuge: a temporary but very warm home to many cats and dogs who find themselves as victims to a hard-knock life marked by loneliness, neglect and sometimes cruelty before finding solace in the trusted care of real-life angels.
The registered open-admission shelter has also more recently become a Rabies Centre of Excellence, one of only a few organisations in South Africa, further expanding its mission to protect animals and public health.
Cat Angel Refuge’s work is no doubt invaluable and evident in the growing numbers of helpless animals that enter their doors. Recently, however, this growing demand has been weighing heavily on these animal heroes.
“We have 16 cats that we hope to be able to return in the New Year (our spaza shop cats) and 11 dogs due to illegal hunting. The dogs have to remain in our custody until the court case is finalised, this is putting strain on our finances and food and vet bills. None of these animals are up for adoption until we know the way forward.
“They desperately need sponsors. We did not expect this sudden influx of animals that need to remain with us while legal processes are followed,” shares Cat Angel Refuge’s Joanne.
Over and above the regular intake of strays and surrenders, the organisation is desperately appealing for assistance in helping feed and take necessary care of these innocent animals who have been dealt some truly unfair blows.
One animal can be sponsored at a once-off cost of R400 to help Cat Angels Refuge cope with this unexpected intake.
