The worry over empty bowls and dwindling supplies turned instantly to tears of joy for Pits Pals, as their call for help was answered by a massive, heartwarming donation.

Cape Town, South Africa (20 November 2025) – When the load gets too heavy and you see no way forward through a hard season, sometimes asking for help is all you can do. And sometimes that single, difficult request unlocks a measure of grace that is beyond measure.

When Pit Pals, an animal welfare organisation dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming pit bulls and other power breeds, put out a desperate plea for dog food, never in a million years did they imagine what the response would be.

The Margot Picard Trust saw Pit Pals’ appeal and reached out to the organisation with an incredible donation of 40 x 40kg Adult food, 20 x 25kg puppy food and 50 x 6 packs of tins! That’s a generous supply of food that arrived in the thick of a tough time and will go a long way in feeding and nourishing the young and old pitbulls at the animal shelter.

“We can’t thank you enough. A very special thanks to Donna Heuer, who facilitated the donation, and to the Trustees, Johnny Heuer and Josi Norfolk,” Pit Pals shared in a post.

Pit Pals is committed to educating the public about how to care for and love animals, with a special emphasis on Pitbulls. The organisation teaches people how to interact with this breed appropriately and aims to show everyone, including children, that dogs are sentient beings and not possessions to be treated as one pleases.

The team further expressed its gratitude to its incredible supporters, who also ensured they received a further 51 x 20 kg bags of dog food.

“So sooo very grateful and blessed beyond words. Mother Hubbard’s cupboard is stocked for a good couple of months.”

It just goes to show that when our canine friends need help, humanity delivers!
